Things I Might Do If I Wasn't So Scared
In rough order of difficulty?
Maybe "scared" means "lazy". Maybe it means something else.
These are not New Year's Resolutions.
- Quit my community garden and find some other activity to keep me outside.
- Go on a hot air balloon ride.
- Quit KWLUG and other non-fun organizational activities.
- Quit my current credit union (the deceptively-named and largely irritating "Your Neighbourhood Credit Union") and move my savings someplace better.
- Sit in a courtroom trial (preferably not mine) if such a thing is possible.
- Juggle on a regular basis.
- Learn how to sing, and then sing.
- Learn how to draw, and then draw.
- Learn Spanish, and then speak/write Spanish.
- Learn some technically difficult field of subject that is new to me.
- Make a meaningful contribution to a FLOSS project.
- Figure out whether ethical investing is possible, and ethically invest whatever savings I have.
- Learn how to market and promote events/groups effectively.
- Inform people whom I admire that I admire them.
- Put significant energy into tilting at the latest electoral reform windmills.
- Actively work to end my celibacy.
- Practice writing for serious.
- Learn how to comedy, and then comedy.
- Work for a for-profit organization.
- Work for a startup.
- Start exercising my upper body.
- Revamp my personal image and brand.
- Give a lot of money to a worthwhile cause.
- Learn how to fundraise money effectively (and ethically?)
- Inform people whom I care about that I care about them.
- Figure out what I believe, and then believe those things.
- Get rid of most of my belongings.
- Look for different work.
- Try paragliding.
- Figure out the conditions under which my life is no longer worth living.
- Quit my job without having something else in place.
- Take an extended vacation to visit someplace exotic (Thunder Bay? Halifax?)
- Figure out whether it is possible to make a living ethically, and what that would look like.
- Move someplace far away. (Thunder Bay? Halifax?)
- Express myself openly and honestly to others.
On my deathbed I expect to be full of regrets.
